A level up restores your health, mana and energy and gives you points to spend (see Stats).

EXP from monsters

A monster’s EXP depends on its level and rank. Elites give ×4, Elite II ×12 and bosses ×60 of the normal reward. Tougher kinds of monsters (more health, harder hits) also pay more than weak ones, so EXP per minute of fighting stays similar for every kind.

Level gap

Fight monsters close to your level. When a monster is more than 5 levels below you, every further level costs 15% of the reward, down to 5%. A stronger monster gives a bonus of 4% per level, at most 20%.

The colour of the level above a monster tells you whether it is worth fighting:

  1. Grey ≤ −10
  2. Green −9 … −3
  3. White −2 … +2
  4. Yellow +3 … +5
  5. Red ≥ +6

Party

In a party, a monster’s EXP is split evenly between the members nearby. Each gets an equal share and then their own penalty or bonus for the level gap. A party kills faster and more safely, so it pays off on elites and in caves more than playing alone.

Extra sources

  • Quests of the main story and side quests give a fixed EXP reward (see Quests).
  • Daily contracts from the Contract Board: 3 a day, the reward grows with your level.
  • The Fortune line of blessings and gear bonuses raise the EXP you gain (see Blessings).
  • Guild skills can add an EXP bonus for every member.
