How the game counts damage step by step, how much armour stops, how elements, crits and dodges work and how monster ranks differ.

Damage step by step

The server counts everything, in this order:

  1. Hit. The target’s dodge chance minus your accuracy, at most 30%. A dodge means no damage.
  2. Strength of the blow. Your attack (physical or magic) times the skill multiplier.
  3. Armour. The target’s defence (after your armour penetration) stops part of the damage, a smaller part the higher your level. Magic uses magic resistance the same way.
  4. Randomness. The result is multiplied by a value from 92% to 108%.
  5. Critical hit. The base chance is 5%, at most 60%. A crit deals 150% damage.
  6. Element. The target’s resistance to the attack’s element reduces the damage, by at most 75%.
  7. PvP. Against a player the result is multiplied by 60%.

Every hit deals at least 1 point of damage.

Armour

The table shows the share of damage armour stops against an attacker of a given level. The same armour protects less and less against stronger enemies, so replace your armour as you level.

Elements

Mage weapons and some skills deal elemental damage. An attack without an element is physical. Each element is blocked by its own resistance.

  • Fire Fire resistance · weapon element
  • Ice Ice resistance · weapon element
  • Lightning Lightning resistance · weapon element
  • Poison Poison resistance

Range

A basic melee attack reaches 7 studs, a ranged one 35 studs.

Monster ranks

Elites are bigger, stronger and higher level than normal monsters of their kind. Elite II fight like a small boss and need a party.

Monster ranks
Rank Level Health Damage EXP Gold
Normal 0 ×1 ×1 ×1 ×1
Elite +2 ×3 ×1.25 ×4 ×4
Elite II +4 ×10 ×1.35 ×12 ×12
Boss 0 ×1 ×6 ×60 ×40

Monsters in a group hit weaker one by one but attack together. Monsters far below your level (15 levels or more) do not attack first.

Level colour

The colour of the level above a monster compares its level with yours.

  1. Grey ≤ −10
  2. Green −9 … −3
  3. White −2 … +2
  4. Yellow +3 … +5
  5. Red ≥ +6
